An Taisce’s National Spring Clean 2012 is on throughout April, and as drivers we can do our bit to help.
[singlepic id=116 w=320 h=240 float=right]A lot of the litter on the roadside is there because drivers fling it out of their windows.
Coffee cups, water bottles, bar wrappers, and even hubcaps, are on the roadsides because too many of us think that rubbish disappears once it speeds out of sight. But the coffee cups don’t biodegrade or blend into the landscape. It’s the Tidy Towns volunteers in the commmunities you pass through who end up clearing up after you.
There’s nothing right about treating your window as a bin. So what can you do?
* Stop throwing things out of the window. (It’s not rocket science, is it?)
* Bring your rubbish home and dispose of it there
* Help keep Tidy Towns volunteers safe by driving with pedestrians in mind
Do your bit to improve the reputation of drivers during National Spring Clean week.
And get out on foot and help out in your community if you can too!
