Congratulations to Kuba Ratajczak, a member of 5th class at St. Finbarr’s National School, Bantry. He’s the winner of the road safety competition we’ve been running to mark our first birthday celebrations on 3rd February.
We were just amazed by the fantastic standard of the hundreds of posters we received (you can see the finalists’ posters here), but Kuba’s stood out. The level of detail is amazing, the poster tells a great story and the message is clear and relevant: distracted driving is such a big danger for young drivers today.
Kuba’s poster reminds us to think about all of the users of the road and the pavements, not just drivers. His slogan is great too, because it reminds everyone on the road to get focused, and stay focused, on road safety. The crossroads and the signs around this car should be enough for the young driver to think about!
Kuba’s prize means that he and his friends will be calling out to us for a day of cycle training and we can’t wait to help them build their skills on our practice track where they’ll be helped by our cycle trainers. They’ll get to test out our driving and braking simulators too. We hope they’ll have a great day.
Well done, Kuba. We’re looking forward to meeting you next week!
Thanks to Councillor Mary Hegarty who helped us to pick the competition winner. She was as moved as we were by all the work that had gone in to all of the posters. The children, from all of the 60 schools that participated, did West Cork proud!
